Join our user testers

We are looking for people of all ages and abilities from 18 to 85 years+ living in Surrey, Bristol, North Devon and Cornwall to take part in our user testing!

You don’t have to be academic or know anything about medicines to take part.

About our user testing
All medicines come with a Package Information Leaflet or PIL for short.  These are recognised as being important for the safe and effective use of the medicine. It’s now law to ‘user test’ these leaflets with potential patients before a medicine is licensed.

What does it involve?
The test takes the form of a one-to-one interview with one of our interviewers. Interviews last about 30 to 45 minutes and can be arranged to take place in your local venue or remotely by Zoom or Microsoft teams.

During the interview, we’ll ask you to use the leaflet to answer some questions about the medicine. We may ask you to carry out some of the instructions in the leaflet to see if they’re easy to follow. You don’t need to know anything about the medicine or the condition it is used to treat. It’s not a speed or memory test; you have the leaflet with you all the time to refer to and can take as long as you need.

We’ll also ask you what you think of the leaflet and how it could be improved. You may later see the medicine in a chemist or supermarket and see that the leaflet reflects some of the suggestions you made!

What do you get?

You’ll receive a £15 High Street Voucher for each interview, plus refreshments, depending on the venue. We’ll find out which voucher you would like when we arrange an interview with you.
